stopped in today to get plants for a new large garden we are establishing. Thought we would get afternoon tea before we started selecting our plants.The lady that served us was so rude that we left without our afternoon tea or any plants. Poor effort in treating locals like that!!!
Lovely gardens best viewed on a well planned visit. Pick your seasons depending on which gardens you want to see at their best. Wisteria =October. The edible garden was my highlight this November as the fragrance of strawberries was blissful. An easy walk that yes, you can even do in heels without too much difficulty if you're so inclined. Make sure to bring sunscreen, hats etc..Toilet facilities are in the cafe area so make sure any children have visited before the walk in the garden or you'll have to keep popping back.Picnicking is only allowed in the paid garden area but the cafe has nice options. The service is very slow, so don't be surprised if you have a long wait for your coffee to arrive.
Staff should have informed visitors of only a segment of the entire garden where it has cherry blossom. For the entrance fee to see only that is not worth it. Perhaps until its with full blooms of the entire garden, then entrance fee warrant it. You could enjoy a nicer & better landscape at Chocolate factory which is located opposite of Alowyn Garden site at No charge.
One of the best garden in Victoria to visit. Early October is cherry blossom season, not too crowded so I could manage to snap at the empty cherry blossom row. Late October we will see more flowers (peonies, wisteria...) so it is very likely that I will visit again. It is not free, but a small price to pay for this absolutely beautiful garden.
Beautiful wide open gardens with different settings and groups of plants. The wisteria looks amazing at different parts of the year. Very relaxing and enjoyable. Lots of roses and berries you can taste.
