Nice venue. They have a number of different areas in the hotel, some seeming more suitable for quiet dining, others for some more intimate drinks and nibbles, with more additional seating outdoors. It was surprisingly quiet for what I assume would be a busy weekend, though.The food was of high quality, although we were waiting a while for it. More strangely, the salads came out 5-10 minutes after everyone else's meal.Overall, a good experience. Would return if I was back in town.
Lovely staff, great and generous meals and good playground for the kids. The bistro could do with a bit of a reno (especially the floor near the step) but we enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back.
Amazing and friendly staff and the food was DELICIOUS but the 10% surcharge on public holidays is a blood JOKE! Not only a 10% surcharge on your order but a 10% surcharge PER ITEM. Not happy at all, very disappointed in this establishment, I have always enjoyed having a meal at the pub but if I had known today that there was going to be a surcharge I definitely would not have bothered. Worst is, the 10% surcharge isn't even going to cover employee wages for working the public holiday! This is an exploitation scheme caused by greedy corporations not caring about their employees or their customers! Disgusting!!
I did not stay. Just came here looking for lunch. On boxing Day, it was one of the very few places open. Lot of locals. Place Has a good vibe. I would have given 5 stars if they gave WiFi to non hotel guests.
As locals, my wife & I have eaten at the Grand on a number of occasions over many years. Unfortunately our recent visit we found the meals and service were at best average! It appeared the staff were very busy and hence there was no attention to detail or follow up to check that the patrons were satisfied with their meals or even just to check if you like another beer? It's a good thing the guys at the front bar know how to pour a beer or the night would have been totally average.... PS. the menu needs a revamp along with the decor
